The Broncos bet the future on McCarthy. The board says D-.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Broncos, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.

Whatever J.J. McCarthy becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it.

The Phillips pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with linebacker still on the board. Reaching for McCarthy left real value on the table behind him.

The McLachlan pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
