The 49ers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

The curious call sets the tone. With interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots still glaring, the 49ers used No. 138 on Davison Igbinosun, a cornerback they were not exactly short of.

Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Igbinosun pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

In the 27th overall pick they get a red-zone target to build around, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds slid further than he should have, and the 58th pick is lovely value for the cornerback. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick127 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
Bryce Lance at slot 127 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jude Bowry
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 133, where Jude Bowry graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick138 Rnd4 Davison Igbinosun
A curious use of Round 4, Pick 38. Interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Davison Igbinosun did not.
Pick139 Rnd4 Kaytron Allen
No edge and no loss on Kaytron Allen in No. 139; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
