Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The Bears won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B+.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Luke Lachey, 43 picks early at the 148th overall pick. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. However the rest shakes out, Emmanwori at that price is a win they earned.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Steal is underselling it; Nick Emmanwori at the Round 2 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick41 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
They took Aireontae Ersery at par in No. 41, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick56 Rnd2 Dylan Sampson
They paid sticker price for Dylan Sampson in the 56th overall pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick72 Rnd3 Jordan Burch
A real head-scratcher, Jordan Burch in the 72nd pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick74 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at pick 74 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick148 Rnd5 Luke Lachey
A wild overpay on Luke Lachey in pick 148, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A minor need, but a need all the same.
