Draft Grade — Eagles

FutureC+
Grand theft in pick No. 99: the Eagles steal Booker and grade out a D+. The Eagles lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D+ is the result.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Booker at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In the Round 1 slot they get a bendy edge with upside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick23
Rnd1
Quinyon Mitchell
In the 23rd pick they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick60
Rnd2
Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard in Round 2, Pick 28 lands just on the right side of the ledger. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick64
Rnd2
Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
They took Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at par in the 64th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick95
Rnd3
Trey Benson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Trey Benson in slot 95. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick99
Rnd3
Austin Booker
Austin Booker at No. 99 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick132
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in the 132nd overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick161
Rnd5
Nehemiah Pritchett
A cornerback of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick167
Rnd5
Mason McCormick
They robbed the room for Mason McCormick here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick187
Rnd6
Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith in the 187th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick210
Rnd6
Trente Jones
Value with a capital V on Trente Jones in No. 210, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick254
Rnd7
Daijahn Anthony
Daijahn Anthony slid further than he should have, and slot 254 is lovely value for the cornerback. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
