Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesC FutureB+
Best value of the weekend goes to the Steelers for Kiser: B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Steelers watched Jack Kiser slide 50 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

They are betting Shough proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick56 Rnd2 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at Round 2, Pick 24 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick62 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
They did well to land Alfred Collins in No. 62, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick90 Rnd3 Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough at the 90th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick123 Rnd4 Jacob Parrish
A tidy little value on Jacob Parrish in the 123rd overall pick, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick127 Rnd4 Charles Grant
Charles Grant at the Round 4 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick132 Rnd4 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They talked themselves into Dont'e Thornton Jr. at slot 132, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick156 Rnd5 Vernon Broughton
This one needs a full-page explanation: Vernon Broughton in pick 156, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick185 Rnd6 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at pick No. 185 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick229 Rnd7 Jack Kiser
They barely believed it either: Jack Kiser still on the board at the 229th pick. The roster fit checks out.
