Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Steelers, and a B- to prove it.

The Steelers did not so much draft Keith Randolph Jr. as overpay for him, 40 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

However the rest shakes out, Hadden at that price is a win they earned. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. It is not that Frazier is a bad player; it is that the Steelers had louder needs to answer first.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 JC Latham
In slot 20 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value.
Pick51 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went offensive lineman with Zach Frazier while clear needs at quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots sat open.
Pick84 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil at Round 3, Pick 20 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick98 Rnd3 Javon Baker
Javon Baker at pick 98 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick119 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 4 slot with a little surplus value in Cedric Gray. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick178 Rnd6 Keith Randolph Jr.
A wild overpay on Keith Randolph Jr. in the 178th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick195 Rnd6 Kamal Hadden
Somehow Kamal Hadden was still sitting there in slot 195, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
