The real work happened on the phones. The Bills fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.

It is not that Newton is a bad player; it is that the Bills had louder needs to answer first. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Landing Lassiter that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
