Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
A franchise passer in Maye headlines a B+ weekend for the Bears.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.

The Eboigbe reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. However the rest shakes out, Simpson at that price is a win they earned.

That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In the Round 1 slot they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick5 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In pick No. 5 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Byron Murphy II
This one needs a full-page explanation: Byron Murphy II in slot 36, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick69 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
By-the-book stuff, Sedrick Van Pran at the 69th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick105 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
A big swing on Jaden Hicks at pick 105, well ahead of any board in the building. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick142 Rnd5 Lathan Ransom
Lathan Ransom at the 142nd overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick155 Rnd5 Tre Harris
Tre Harris at Round 5, Pick 19 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick183 Rnd6 Jaylin Simpson
A quiet steal in No. 183: Jaylin Simpson for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick226 Rnd7 Justin Eboigbe
Value said wait; Justin Eboigbe in the 226th overall pick says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick239 Rnd7 Nathaniel Watson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nathaniel Watson. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
