Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The 49ers let Singleton fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Nicholas Singleton, the No. 99 name on the board, stolen at pick 226. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. Majors has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Jahdae Barron
In pick No. 11 they get a potential shutdown corner. More want than need.
Pick43 Rnd2 Josh Conerly Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Josh Conerly Jr. at slot 43 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jake Majors
Value said wait; Jake Majors in Round 3, Pick 11 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick100 Rnd3 Luke Kandra
They paid up for Luke Kandra at the 100th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick112 Rnd4 Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson in No. 112 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick137 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
Somehow Kevin Winston Jr. was still sitting there in pick 137, and they pounced on premier safety value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick186 Rnd6 Danny Stutsman
Danny Stutsman in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick226 Rnd7 Nicholas Singleton
They will replay Nicholas Singleton at the 226th pick for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick230 Rnd7 Jack Kiser
They barely believed it either: Jack Kiser still on the board at pick 230. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick249 Rnd7 Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim at the 249th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick254 Rnd7 Jake Briningstool
Jake Briningstool at slot 254 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
