dadoojo1 DRAFTING FOR THESteelers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Steelers. You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Steelers spent pick No. 51 on Zach Frazier while quarterback, safety and other spots sat unaddressed. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Wingo.
Frazier has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In the 20th pick they get a building block for the line. More want than need.
Pick51
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Zach Frazier adds an offensive lineman and leaves quarterback, safety and other spots untouched.
Pick84
Rnd3
Kris Abrams-Draine
Nothing to complain about; Kris Abrams-Draine went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick98
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice at the 98th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick119
Rnd4
Mekhi Wingo
Mekhi Wingo slid further than he should have, and the Round 4 slot is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick178
Rnd6
Ty'Ron Hopper
No edge and no loss on Ty'Ron Hopper in pick 178; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick195
Rnd6
Erick All
Erick All in pick No. 195 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
