Cowtipper80 DRAFTING FOR THEPatriots
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall

FutureB-
The Patriots checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. The rest of the league had time to spare on Oronde Gadsden II; the Patriots did not wait, grabbing him 50 spots ahead at Round 5, Pick 6. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In pick 4 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick38
Rnd2
Josh Conerly Jr.
Josh Conerly Jr. in pick No. 38 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick69
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo at the 69th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick77
Rnd3
Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson slipping to the 77th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick106
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
They read the board right and Darius Alexander was the payoff at No. 106. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick144
Rnd5
Oronde Gadsden II
They reached a country mile for Oronde Gadsden II at the Round 5 slot, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
