You could see the war room lean forward. M.J. Devonshire at the 248th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

If Wallace pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. With safety, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
