Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
Hadden should have been long gone. The Cowboys pounced, and earned a B.

Somebody in the Round 7 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Kamal Hadden, the No. 167 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

They are betting Logue proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Kingsley Suamataia
In the 29th overall pick they get protection for the quarterback, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick56 Rnd2 Jonathon Brooks
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jonathon Brooks at No. 56. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick73 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran in the 73rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick87 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice at pick No. 87 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick174 Rnd5 James Williams
James Williams at Round 5, Pick 38 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick216 Rnd6 Fabien Lovett
Circle this one: Fabien Lovett at pick 216 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick233 Rnd7 Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden in slot 233 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick244 Rnd7 Zion Logue
Zion Logue in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
