Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall C
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The Cowboys lost the trade table, and the C tells the story.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Cowboys spent the 247th overall pick on Brady Cook, a name the board had a full 38 spots lower. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C in the wash.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. They banked enough surplus on Sampson to cover a lot of smaller sins.

On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In pick 12 they get a long-term starter on the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins in pick No. 44 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick74 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
They let Dylan Sampson come to them and pounced at Round 3, Pick 10. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick76 Rnd3 Darien Porter
They paid sticker price for Darien Porter in slot 76, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick149 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
They took Bhayshul Tuten at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick171 Rnd5 Ajani Cornelius
No drama and no debate, Ajani Cornelius went about where he belonged in the 171st overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick174 Rnd5 Vernon Broughton
Vernon Broughton in Round 5, Pick 36 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick204 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick211 Rnd6 Jordan Hancock
Jordan Hancock at the 211th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick239 Rnd7 Kaden Prather
Kaden Prather at the 239th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick247 Rnd7 Brady Cook
They talked themselves into Brady Cook at pick 247, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
