A costly weekend of dealing drags the 49ers to a D.

The 49ers went off the board in a big way for Taulia Tagovailoa, 55 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. The Zinter pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Luke McCaffrey at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
