Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA
The 49ers bled value on every deal, hence the D.

The phones were a trap the 49ers kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. It grades a D, and the process earned it.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. They banked enough surplus on McCall to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Jabbar Muhammad
In slot 31 they get a lockdown presence outside. More want than need.
Pick37 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton in the 37th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick63 Rnd2 Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey in pick 63 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick99 Rnd4 Joshua Gray
Fair-plus on Joshua Gray, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick127 Rnd4 Jahdae Barron
Value with a capital V on Jahdae Barron in the Round 4 slot, a genuine coup. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick159 Rnd5 Grayson McCall
A tidy bit of business in the 159th pick, where Grayson McCall graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick191 Rnd6 Jaylin Noel
A clean, defensible pick in Round 6, Pick 31 with a little surplus value in Jaylin Noel. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick223 Rnd7 Tommi Hill
No edge and no loss on Tommi Hill in pick No. 223; it is a wash and a sensible one. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
