Larceny in slot 254 lands the 49ers a D, Singleton and all.

The 49ers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Nicholas Singleton, the No. 103 name on the board, in pick No. 254. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

Noel has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In pick No. 17 they get an enforcer at safety. Need was not the driver here.
Pick48 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
Steal is underselling it; Tate Ratledge at Round 2, Pick 16 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick54 Rnd2 Logan Brown
Logan Brown at the 54th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick79 Rnd3 Jake Majors
They read the board right and Jake Majors was the payoff at pick 79. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick101 Rnd3 Smael Mondon Jr.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Smael Mondon Jr. in slot 101, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick115 Rnd4 Zy Alexander
Value said wait; Zy Alexander in the 115th overall pick says they were not listening. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick137 Rnd4 Alfred Collins
Taking Alfred Collins in No. 137 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick192 Rnd6 Gunnar Helm
Gunnar Helm in the Round 6 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick234 Rnd7 Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. in the 234th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick247 Rnd7 Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham in slot 247 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Pick249 Rnd7 Jaylin Noel
A real head-scratcher, Jaylin Noel in pick No. 249 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick254 Rnd7 Nicholas Singleton
They robbed the room for Nicholas Singleton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
