Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the 49ers for Nolen: B+.

Whoever sat across the table from the 49ers should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

The Nolen value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The McLaughlin reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Armand Membou
In pick No. 12 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
Circle this one: Walter Nolen at pick 43 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jordan Burch
Jordan Burch at the 75th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick76 Rnd3 Charles Grant
A reach on Charles Grant in the 76th overall pick; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick100 Rnd3 Savion Williams
The board had Savion Williams higher than No. 100, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick113 Rnd4 Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa in Round 4, Pick 11 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick138 Rnd4 Luke Kandra
Luke Kandra at pick 138 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick147 Rnd5 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
A premium they did not need to pay, Antwaun Powell-Ryland a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
Pick149 Rnd5 Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin in slot 149 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick160 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
Good price on Bhayshul Tuten in Round 5, Pick 22, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick204 Rnd6 Luke Lachey
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Luke Lachey. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick227 Rnd7 Robert Longerbeam
Fair-plus on Robert Longerbeam, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick249 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa slid further than he should have, and No. 249 is lovely value for the wide receiver. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick252 Rnd7 Zeek Biggers
A straight-up fair deal on Zeek Biggers at the Round 7 slot, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
