Larceny in pick 227 lands the 49ers a B, Giddens and all.

When a board-topper like DJ Giddens slides to the 227th pick, you do not overthink it, and the 49ers did not.

If Kuithe pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Kelvin Banks Jr.
In pick 11 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43 Rnd2 Azareye'h Thomas
They paid up for Azareye'h Thomas at slot 43 when waiting would have done the job. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick75 Rnd3 Tre Harris
Tre Harris is a better player than No. 75 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick100 Rnd3 Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier at the 100th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick113 Rnd4 Kobe King
Kobe King in the Round 4 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick138 Rnd4 Billy Bowman Jr.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Billy Bowman Jr. in Round 4, Pick 36, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick147 Rnd5 Jordan Phillips
Steal is underselling it; Jordan Phillips at pick No. 147 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick160 Rnd5 Ty Robinson
Ty Robinson in the 160th pick is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick227 Rnd7 DJ Giddens
You do not let a running back like DJ Giddens reach slot 227 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick249 Rnd7 Brant Kuithe
This one needs a full-page explanation: Brant Kuithe in pick 249, miles early. It fills a real need, too.
Pick252 Rnd7 John Williams
John Williams in the 252nd overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
