The 49ers went off the board in a big way for David Walker, 83 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Getting Bowman Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
