The 49ers checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The 49ers reached some 136 spots for R.J. Oben, and value like that does not grow back.

However the rest shakes out, Williams at that price is a win they earned. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
