The steal of the weekend belongs to the 49ers and Knight Jr.: A.

Somebody in the 235th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The 49ers sat still while Demetrius Knight Jr., the No. 58 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
