More right than wrong for the 49ers, and a B- to prove it.

The Tykee Smith selection is the head-turner. The 49ers reached 22 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

The 49ers indulged a want in Solomon while a need in interior defensive lineman and quarterback stayed open. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Jacobs falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
