Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Good, not great, for the 49ers: B.

Nobody else had Tyler Batty anywhere near the 191st overall pick. The 49ers did, by 122 spots, and that gap is the whole story. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

Foster falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it.

Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In No. 15 they get a bell-cow for the offense at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick46 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Steal is underselling it; Nick Emmanwori at the Round 2 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick77 Rnd3 Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at slot 77 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick100 Rnd3 Deone Walker
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Deone Walker reach the 100th pick and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick113 Rnd4 Deontae Lawson
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Deontae Lawson in pick No. 113, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick137 Rnd4 Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor in Round 4, Pick 36 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick191 Rnd6 Tyler Batty
Value said wait; Tyler Batty in slot 191 says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
Pick233 Rnd7 Trey Wedig
They reached a country mile for Trey Wedig at Round 7, Pick 19, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick248 Rnd7 Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster in pick 248 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick249 Rnd7 Miles Frazier
They will replay Miles Frazier at No. 249 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick254 Rnd7 Kamari Wilson
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kamari Wilson in the 254th overall pick, miles early. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
