Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
C-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesF
FutureB-
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Packers to a C-. The Packers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending pick 141 on Dont'e Thornton Jr. a full 42 spots early. Call it a C- and check back in two years.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
The Henderson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick Analysis
Pick37
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
Nice patience on Emeka Egbuka, who had no business lasting to Round 2, Pick 5. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick38
Rnd2
Tyleik Williams
By-the-book stuff, Tyleik Williams at slot 38 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick41
Rnd2
Landon Jackson
Landon Jackson in pick 41 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick42
Rnd2
Trey Amos
A reach on Trey Amos in the 42nd pick; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick56
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jayden Higgins. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick72
Rnd3
Demetrius Knight Jr.
Value with a capital V on Demetrius Knight Jr. in No. 72, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick74
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
A top-tier running back at a bargain, TreVeyon Henderson in pick 74, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick75
Rnd3
Jalen Royals
They let Jalen Royals come to them and pounced at No. 75. It fills a real need, too.
Pick88
Rnd3
Charles Grant
No edge and no loss on Charles Grant in slot 88; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick96
Rnd3
Mason Taylor
Circle this one: Mason Taylor at the 96th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick98
Rnd3
Jake Majors
Jake Majors at Round 3, Pick 34 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The roster fit checks out.
Pick103
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
A premium they did not need to pay, Denzel Burke a notch or two before his time. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick110
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish in the Round 4 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick120
Rnd4
Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer at pick No. 120 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick141
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Value said wait; Dont'e Thornton Jr. in Round 5, Pick 3 says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
