Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall C-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureC
The Patriots answered their biggest question with Maye. Grade: C-.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C- in the wash.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Walker pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

If Drake Maye and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In slot 3 they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
They liked Xavier Worthy enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 2, Pick 2. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick35 Rnd2 Devontez Walker
A reach for Devontez Walker in No. 35; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick103 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
No drama and no debate, Khyree Jackson went about where he belonged in pick No. 103. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick139 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
They took Ben Sinnott at par in the 139th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick232 Rnd7 Jeremy Flax
Jeremy Flax at the 232nd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
