The steal of the weekend belongs to the Commanders and Blue: B-.

Somebody in Round 7, Pick 29 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Commanders sat still while Jaydon Blue, the No. 173 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

Reaching for Jackson left real value on the table behind him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Landon Jackson
In pick No. 29 they get a disruptor off the edge, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick61 Rnd2 Trey Amos
Trey Amos at slot 61 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick128 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
Taking Andrew Mukuba in No. 128 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick205 Rnd6 KeAndre Lambert-Smith
KeAndre Lambert-Smith is a better player than pick 205 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick245 Rnd7 Jaydon Blue
Jaydon Blue at the 245th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
