There is reaching, and then there is Collin Oliver at the 238th overall pick. The Patriots jumped the board by 54 and dared it to prove them wrong. For now it grades a C-, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The Brooks pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
