Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall
B
ValueB-

TradesA+
FutureB-
The Dolphins won the night they stopped Hicks from sliding. Grade: B. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Dolphins were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Hicks. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Wingo proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Pick66
Rnd3
Brandon Dorlus
Brandon Dorlus at the 66th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick87
Rnd3
Gabriel Murphy
Gabriel Murphy in Round 3, Pick 24 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick90
Rnd3
Javon Baker
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Javon Baker. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick93
Rnd3
Mekhi Wingo
They went early on Mekhi Wingo in pick 93, and the value did not follow. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick105
Rnd4
Jaden Hicks
The board fumbled Jaden Hicks all the way to No. 105, and they scooped it up. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick110
Rnd4
Javon Foster
The board had cheaper options than Javon Foster at the 110th pick, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick130
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
Mohamed Kamara at slot 130 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick159
Rnd5
Jacob Cowing
Nice patience on Jacob Cowing, who had no business lasting to No. 159. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick184
Rnd6
Kamal Hadden
A quiet steal in pick 184: Kamal Hadden for less than the market said. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick198
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
By-the-book stuff, Joe Milton III at the 198th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
