Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The Bears turned the phones into found money: B+.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Bears reached some 46 spots for Oronde Gadsden II, and value like that does not grow back. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They banked enough surplus on Emmanwori to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Mykel Williams
In slot 17 they get a disruptor off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
No drama and no debate, Aireontae Ersery went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Pick45 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Taking Nick Emmanwori in pick 45 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick50 Rnd2 Kaleb Johnson
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 18 with a little surplus value in Kaleb Johnson. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick113 Rnd4 Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer at the 113th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick148 Rnd5 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II in the 148th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick151 Rnd5 Tommi Hill
They jumped the gun on Tommi Hill, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick233 Rnd7 Logan Parr
A wild overpay on Logan Parr in the 233rd overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick240 Rnd7 Zeek Biggers
They liked Zeek Biggers enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 240. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick249 Rnd7 Cody Lindenberg
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cody Lindenberg. A need, and now a little less of one.
