Rhodes DRAFTING FOR THEBroncos
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall

ValueB-

FutureB-
The Broncos did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Broncos walked out of the weekend still thin at linebacker, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The Wease Jr. reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In the 3rd pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Emery Jones
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Emery Jones. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick67
Rnd3
Tez Johnson
A clean, defensible pick in the 67th overall pick with a little surplus value in Tez Johnson. The roster fit checks out.
Pick99
Rnd4
Jalon Walker
They did well to land Jalon Walker in No. 99, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick163
Rnd6
Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. at Round 6, Pick 3 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
