FutureB
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Broncos. Everything else got attention, and linebacker got none. That is a strange way for the Broncos to leave a draft. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
They chose more darts over a bigger single swing. The phones were busy but the ledger stayed level.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In the 3rd overall pick they get a problem off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick48
Rnd2
Josh Conerly Jr.
They paid sticker price for Josh Conerly Jr. in No. 48, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick67
Rnd3
Tre Harris
By-the-book stuff, Tre Harris at pick 67 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick99
Rnd4
Bear Alexander
Bear Alexander at pick No. 99 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick118
Rnd4
Gabe Jacas
Gabe Jacas at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick131
Rnd5
Riley Mahlman
A tidy little value on Riley Mahlman in Round 5, Pick 3, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick163
Rnd6
Will Lee III
Will Lee III in the 163rd pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
