The Patriots did not so much draft Jason Henderson as overpay for him, 112 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. It is not that Fortune is a bad player; it is that the Patriots had louder needs to answer first. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Restrepo. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.
