Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
A
ValueA-
NeedA-
TradesA
FutureA+
A franchise passer in Ward headlines a A weekend for the Browns. The Browns did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Dylan Fairchild fell into slot 256. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A to cap it.
So much rides on Cam Ward that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.
Bottom line, with Cam Ward leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In pick 4 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick44
Rnd2
Princely Umanmielen
A edge rusher of that caliber at No. 44 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick77
Rnd3
Wyatt Milum
You do not let an offensive lineman like Wyatt Milum reach the 77th overall pick and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick81
Rnd3
Walter Nolen
Steal is underselling it; Walter Nolen at pick No. 81 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
Pick94
Rnd3
Jahdae Barron
Taking Jahdae Barron in the 94th pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick102
Rnd4
Ashton Jeanty
The board fumbled Ashton Jeanty all the way to Round 4, Pick 1, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick163
Rnd5
Tre Harris
They will replay Tre Harris at slot 163 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick177
Rnd6
Josaiah Stewart
Josaiah Stewart in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick190
Rnd6
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell in pick 190 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick198
Rnd6
Trey Amos
Somehow Trey Amos was still sitting there in No. 198, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick215
Rnd6
Kyle McCord
They robbed the room for Kyle McCord here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick256
Rnd7
Dylan Fairchild
Circle this one: Dylan Fairchild at slot 256 is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
