FutureB-
Jones should have been long gone. The Lions pounced, and earned a B. Call it larceny. Jarrian Jones sat on the board until pick No. 164, and the Lions did not need to be asked twice.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Solomon pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, linebacker and other spots still on the board. The Hall pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Troy Fautanu
In pick 29 they get an anchor for the offensive line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick69
Rnd3
Kamren Kinchens
Good price on Kamren Kinchens in the 69th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick73
Rnd3
Zach Frazier
Value with a capital V on Zach Frazier in the 73rd pick, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick110
Rnd4
Javon Solomon
Of all the spots to shop, they chose OLB-EDGE. Javon Solomon in No. 110 leaves edge rusher, linebacker and other spots for later.
Pick164
Rnd5
Jarrian Jones
Jarrian Jones in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick181
Rnd6
Jha'Quan Jackson
Jha'Quan Jackson at pick No. 181 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick201
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
No edge and no loss on Jared Wiley in slot 201; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick205
Rnd6
Gabe Hall
A conviction pick on Gabe Hall at Round 6, Pick 30 that the board grades a round light. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick249
Rnd7
Bub Means
They did well to land Bub Means in the 249th pick, just ahead of his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
