Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall D
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The Cowboys lost the trade table, and the D tells the story.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Cowboys shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

With cornerback, tight end and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on edge rusher is the choice that costs them. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The Turner pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Emery Jones Jr.
In pick No. 28 they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick58 Rnd2 Tre Harris
Tre Harris at the 58th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick83 Rnd3 Drew Allar
No edge and no loss on Drew Allar in pick 83; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick90 Rnd3 Shemar Turner
They reached into another round for Shemar Turner, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick91 Rnd3 Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders at No. 91 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick92 Rnd3 Nic Anderson
Fair-plus on Nic Anderson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick115 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Smael Mondon Jr. in Round 4, Pick 19. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick122 Rnd4 Gabe Jacas
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Gabe Jacas adds an edge rusher and leaves cornerback, tight end and other spots untouched.
Pick154 Rnd5 Aubrey Burks
No drama and no debate, Aubrey Burks went about where he belonged in pick No. 154. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
