Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesC+ FutureA
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Cardinals a B.

The tape said wait; the Cardinals did not. Garret Greenfield went at pick 186, a good 30 picks before the board was ready. No fireworks, but a solid B.

The Sainristil pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback and tight end still on the board. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Byron Murphy II
In slot 17 they get an anchor for the defensive front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick27 Rnd1 Cooper DeJean
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner. Need was not the driver here.
Pick35 Rnd2 Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in Round 2, Pick 3 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick48 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman in the 48th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick68 Rnd3 Devontez Walker
Devontez Walker at No. 68 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick71 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Mike Sainristil while clear needs at quarterback and tight end sat open.
Pick90 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
A premium they did not need to pay, Christian Mahogany a notch or two before his time. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick96 Rnd3 Braelon Allen
They jumped the gun on Braelon Allen, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
Pick104 Rnd4 Maason Smith
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Maason Smith. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick114 Rnd4 Mohamed Kamara
Mohamed Kamara at the 114th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick138 Rnd5 Tommy Eichenberg
A straight-up fair deal on Tommy Eichenberg at slot 138, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick162 Rnd5 Sione Vaki
Good price on Sione Vaki in pick 162, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick186 Rnd6 Garret Greenfield
Garret Greenfield at the 186th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick226 Rnd7 LaDarius Henderson
They reached a country mile for LaDarius Henderson at pick No. 226, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
