Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
A franchise passer in Williams headlines a D- weekend for the Bears.

The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. The Clark pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the 1st pick they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a matchup problem out wide. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick29 Rnd1 Jordan Morgan
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick61 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
By-the-book stuff, T'Vondre Sweat at slot 61 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick110 Rnd4 Beau Brade
No drama and no debate, Beau Brade went about where he belonged in No. 110. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick146 Rnd5 Dallin Holker
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dallin Holker. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick147 Rnd5 Cam Hart
They let Cam Hart come to them and pounced at pick No. 147. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick187 Rnd6 Braelon Allen
They will replay Braelon Allen at the 187th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick250 Rnd7 De'Corian Clark
Somehow De'Corian Clark was still sitting there in slot 250, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick255 Rnd7 Mark Perry
Mark Perry in the 255th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick256 Rnd7 Tatum Bethune
Tatum Bethune at the Round 7 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
