FutureA+
The Browns got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D. The war room fell hard for Chico Bennett Jr., and it showed at Round 6, Pick 24: 261 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. A D that will need time and luck to look better.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Emmanwori falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick39
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in No. 39 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
Pick42
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Nothing to complain about; Jihaad Campbell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick44
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
A reach on TreVeyon Henderson in the 44th pick; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick45
Rnd2
T.J. Sanders
A clean, defensible pick in slot 45 with a little surplus value in T.J. Sanders. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick67
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at Round 3, Pick 3 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick72
Rnd3
Mason Taylor
They took Mason Taylor at par in the 72nd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick76
Rnd3
Barrett Carter
No drama and no debate, Barrett Carter went about where he belonged in the 76th pick. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick94
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at the 94th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick104
Rnd4
Jake Majors
Jake Majors at Round 4, Pick 2 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick119
Rnd4
Pat Bryant
They talked themselves into Pat Bryant at slot 119, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick122
Rnd4
Cobee Bryant
By-the-book stuff, Cobee Bryant at No. 122 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick148
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick168
Rnd5
RJ Oben
They reached a country mile for RJ Oben at pick No. 168, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick179
Rnd6
Tyler Cooper
Tyler Cooper at pick 179 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick192
Rnd6
Addison West
A big swing on Addison West at the 192nd overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
Pick197
Rnd6
Howard Cross III
A wild overpay on Howard Cross III in Round 6, Pick 21, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick200
Rnd6
Chico Bennett Jr.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Chico Bennett Jr. this early at No. 200. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick216
Rnd6
Donovan Smith
Donovan Smith in the 216th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick218
Rnd7
Steven Parker
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Steven Parker well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick233
Rnd7
Desmond Evans
They reached into another round for Desmond Evans, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick240
Rnd7
Zykeivous Walker
Value said wait; Zykeivous Walker in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick242
Rnd7
Jahfari Harvey
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jahfari Harvey. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick255
Rnd7
Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders at the 255th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
