The Steelers got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Steelers spent pick No. 210 on Kalil Alexander, a name most had 45 spots down the list. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Klubnik at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.

In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a weapon on the perimeter, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.

A reasonable price with a little left over, Michael Taaffe in the Round 3 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.

Taking Cade Klubnik in the 82nd overall pick is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
