Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
Daniels is the plan now, and the Patriots grade out a A-.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.

They will need Gore Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Getting Colby where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Bottom line, with Jayden Daniels leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In slot 6 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Amarius Mims
Amarius Mims at the 35th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick67 Rnd3 Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. slipping to the Round 3 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick103 Rnd4 Luke Lachey
They took Luke Lachey at par in the 103rd pick, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Pick140 Rnd5 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson is a better player than Round 5, Pick 4 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick143 Rnd5 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
No drama and no debate, Antwaun Powell-Ryland went about where he belonged in No. 143. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick181 Rnd6 Connor Colby
They will replay Connor Colby at pick No. 181 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick224 Rnd7 Frank Gore Jr.
They reached into another round for Frank Gore Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
