Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Chiefs for Woodson: B.

The board owed the Chiefs one, and it paid up: Craig Woodson, the No. 220 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 251 like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

Wease Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Josh Conerly Jr.
In the 31st overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick63 Rnd2 Jayden Higgins
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 31 with a little surplus value in Jayden Higgins. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick66 Rnd3 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at slot 66 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick95 Rnd3 Darien Porter
Darien Porter at No. 95 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick134 Rnd4 Cody Simon
Nothing to complain about; Cody Simon went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick226 Rnd7 Theo Wease Jr.
They talked themselves into Theo Wease Jr. at pick 226, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick251 Rnd7 Craig Woodson
They will replay Craig Woodson at pick No. 251 for years; that is how good the value is. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick257 Rnd7 Jacory Croskey-Merritt
A big swing on Jacory Croskey-Merritt at the 257th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
