The real work happened on the phones. The Patriots fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Fannin Jr.. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The veteran additions, Josh Downs chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
