Draft Grade — 49ers

FutureA+
Quarterback settled, Sanders in the fold, and a D+ for the 49ers. The 49ers lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.
The whole projection now runs through Shedeur Sanders; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The Loveland steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In pick 21 they get a franchise quarterback at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33
Rnd2
Princely Umanmielen
Princely Umanmielen slipping to pick No. 33 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick35
Rnd2
Benjamin Morrison
They let Benjamin Morrison come to them and pounced at the Round 2 slot. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick52
Rnd2
Wyatt Milum
Value with a capital V on Wyatt Milum in No. 52, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick80
Rnd3
Clay Webb
Clay Webb in the 80th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick101
Rnd3
Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant at Round 3, Pick 37 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick102
Rnd4
Colston Loveland
Circle this one: Colston Loveland at the 102nd pick is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick116
Rnd4
Parker Brailsford
Parker Brailsford at slot 116 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick138
Rnd4
Jihaad Campbell
Somehow Jihaad Campbell was still sitting there in pick No. 138, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick140
Rnd5
Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick158
Rnd5
Jonah Coleman
The board had Jonah Coleman higher than pick 158, and the running back fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick176
Rnd6
Dane Key
No edge and no loss on Dane Key in No. 176; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick188
Rnd6
Hunter Wohler
You do not let a safety like Hunter Wohler reach the 188th pick and blink. They did not. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick223
Rnd7
J.C. Davis
They barely believed it either: J.C. Davis still on the board at Round 7, Pick 9. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick246
Rnd7
Jacobe Covington
Good price on Jacobe Covington in the 246th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick247
Rnd7
Bru McCoy
A tidy little value on Bru McCoy in slot 247, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick254
Rnd7
Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II in slot 254 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
