Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall
C+
ValueB-

FutureA+
Best value of the weekend goes to the Patriots for Sturdivant: C+. The phones were a trap the Patriots kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
Landing Sturdivant that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
If Chop Robinson and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Carson Beck
No edge and no loss on Carson Beck in the 35th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick75
Rnd3
Adonai Mitchell
They took Adonai Mitchell at par in slot 75, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick103
Rnd4
Blake Fisher
A straight-up fair deal on Blake Fisher at Round 4, Pick 3, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick111
Rnd4
Matt Goncalves
Matt Goncalves in pick No. 111 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick123
Rnd4
Jalen McMillan
A tidy bit of business in the 123rd pick, where Jalen McMillan graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick140
Rnd5
Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton at pick No. 140 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick181
Rnd6
J. Michael Sturdivant
The board fumbled J. Michael Sturdivant all the way to the 181st overall pick, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick189
Rnd6
Brevyn Spann-Ford
Nothing to complain about; Brevyn Spann-Ford went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick224
Rnd7
Jasheen Davis
Value with a capital V on Jasheen Davis in Round 7, Pick 4, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick244
Rnd7
Zy Alexander
The board had Zy Alexander higher than the Round 7 slot, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
