Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB- TradesF FutureA+
Noel should have been long gone. The Broncos pounced, and earned a D.

The Broncos lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.

For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. With linebacker, interior defensive lineman and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Noel. The cost of the Puni reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

Pick Analysis
Pick57 Rnd2 Kalen King
Kalen King at the Round 2 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick82 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni at pick 82 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick114 Rnd4 Jalen McMillan
No edge and no loss on Jalen McMillan in pick No. 114; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick118 Rnd4 Beau Brade
A tidy little value on Beau Brade in slot 118, a step better than break-even. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick126 Rnd4 Jordan Travis
They paid up for Jordan Travis at Round 4, Pick 26 when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick129 Rnd4 Max Melton
They bypassed pressing needs at linebacker, interior defensive lineman and other spots to take Max Melton, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick151 Rnd5 McCallan Castles
McCallan Castles in Round 5, Pick 15 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick175 Rnd5 Tre Harris
Nice patience on Tre Harris, who had no business lasting to the 175th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick235 Rnd7 Reuben Fatheree II
Reuben Fatheree II at pick No. 235 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick244 Rnd7 Jaylin Noel
The board fumbled Jaylin Noel all the way to pick 244, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
