Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureA+
The Patriots let Warren fall and pounced. Final grade: B+.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Patriots were there to profit. Tyler Warren, the No. 17 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 2 slot.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Christian Kirk deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. The trade work was a quiet net positive.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In slot 25 they get a rangy last line of defense at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick38 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at No. 38 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick58 Rnd2 Jaylin Noel
They paid sticker price for Jaylin Noel in the 58th pick, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick69 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at pick 69 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick77 Rnd3 Cameron Williams
Value with a capital V on Cameron Williams in the 77th overall pick, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick106 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
Nothing to complain about; Jared Wilson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick144 Rnd5 Cody Simon
Cody Simon at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick217 Rnd7 Tahj Brooks
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Tahj Brooks in Round 7, Pick 1, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick220 Rnd7 Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
A offensive lineman of that caliber at slot 220 is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick238 Rnd7 Ricky White III
Circle this one: Ricky White III at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
