The war room fell hard for J.J. Weaver, and it showed at the 204th overall pick: 128 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

They banked enough surplus on Carter to cover a lot of smaller sins. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with linebacker the one that mattered most.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
