The Packers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. The Packers clearly saw something nobody else did in Tommy Mellott, taking him 134 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Horton pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In slot 23 they get a No. 1 receiver at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick54
Rnd2
Azareye'h Thomas
A straight-up fair deal on Azareye'h Thomas at Round 2, Pick 22, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick91
Rnd3
Jordan Phillips
Jordan Phillips at the Round 3 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick124
Rnd4
Barryn Sorrell
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Barryn Sorrell well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick136
Rnd4
Tory Horton
You do not let a wide receiver like Tory Horton reach pick 136 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick159
Rnd5
Logan Brown
They let Logan Brown come to them and pounced at pick No. 159. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick198
Rnd6
Jack Kiser
A tidy bit of business in the Round 6 slot, where Jack Kiser graded well above the range. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick210
Rnd6
Ethan Downs
A real head-scratcher, Ethan Downs in pick No. 210 is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick237
Rnd7
Bilhal Kone
Bilhal Kone at Round 7, Pick 21 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick250
Rnd7
Tommy Mellott
Tommy Mellott in pick 250 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
