Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall D+
ValueB NeedA- TradesF FutureA+
The Cardinals drew a line under the quarterback search with Maye: D+.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Cardinals did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.

They have staked the next five years on Drake Maye, which is the only story that really matters here. Jones falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the 3rd overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick4 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In the Round 1 slot they get the face of the franchise at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick27 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In pick No. 27 they get a cornerstone up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35 Rnd2 Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at the 35th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick71 Rnd3 Adisa Isaac
Value with a capital V on Adisa Isaac in pick 71, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick138 Rnd5 James Williams
James Williams slid further than he should have, and No. 138 is lovely value for the linebacker. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick162 Rnd5 Chau Smith-Wade
They robbed the room for Chau Smith-Wade here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick198 Rnd6 Xavier Thomas
Steal is underselling it; Xavier Thomas at slot 198 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick226 Rnd7 Fabien Lovett
Fabien Lovett at No. 226 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick240 Rnd7 Trente Jones
Trente Jones in the 240th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
